Over 40 presentations showcase advances in cancer research from Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting is the focal point of the cancer research community, where scientists, clinicians, other health care professionals, survivors, patients, and advocates gather to share the latest advances in cancer science and medicine.

Highlights from the 2024 meeting included the induction of Yale Cancer Center’s Patricia LoRusso, DO, PhD (h), as President of AACR for 2024-25. In addition, Roy S. Herbst, MD, PhD, led a panel session on the Cancer Moonshot, featuring Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD, Director of the National Cancer Institute; Elizabeth Jaffee, MD, Chair of the President's Cancer Panel; Patricia LoRusso, DO, President of AACR; and Bianca Islam, MD, PhD, MSc, Physician-Scientist at University Hospitals in Cleveland. Dr. Herbst also served as moderator of one of the AACR press conferences.

A 5K race kicked off the meeting on Saturday morning and Yale Cancer Center's Jeffrey Townsend, PhD, finished 3rd out of over 900 runners!

Yale Cancer Center's research took the stage throughout the 5-day conference with over 40 presentations from our faculty and trainees. Congratulations to all attendees, presenters, and the research teams.
